Set in 1998, “Tramps Like Us” is the story of a group of gay men in Toronto who are struggling with the process of growing older in the community. Sound familiar? The first draft was written the year before the UK series Queer as Folk was broadcast, and so the author had no choice but to put it in a drawer for a while.

Keil remarks, ” It has a charm, I think, in a sex and drugs and rock and roll kind of way.”

In the time since, Steve Keil has published eight books of poetry, with subject matter that often addresses life on Church Street and the rest of the Toronto. This is his first novel. It is available on Amazon in both print and kindle versions, along with his most recent poetry book, “Vanishing Fair.”
