The Toronto Maple Leafs have made it to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades, and the city is abuzz. As well, those pesky Blue Jays have started off the season with an impressive amount of wins this season. What all this means is that Toronto is ablaze with the colours of blue.

I remember gathering with friends and watching as the Jays went on to win their first World Series. I picked up a bottle of Blue Curacao liqueur to toast to our victories. Now with the Leafs poised to go strong this year, dare I say perhaps the finals or further, it’s time to gather and salute our boys in blue!

My new go-to this year is Polar Ice Berry Blizzard, a blue raspberry flavoured vodka with fresh citrus fruit, zesty lemon, juicy blue raspberries, and floral notes. Vibrant and refreshing with delicious fruit flavours. Great for use in fun cocktails, over ice, or just simply chilled. It is fairly sweet, so I’d suggest shots over sipping. However I personally found that a shot with club soda or tonic water takes away some of that sweetness, but still keeps the blue colour.

Although delicious shooting a shot back each time our team scores is a great way to get the celebrations started, there’s also a great list of cocktail suggestions that can be found here, all ready made in our team colours.  Try the Blue Hawaiian , Blue Lagoon, or Blizzard Slushie, or like has been said before – Go Big or Go Home with this Blizzard Bowl that can be shared with you and your friends.
